Abstract

CONTRERAS MEDINA, Paola Mayra; VARGAS MARTINEZ, Elva Esther; CRUZ JIMENEZ, Graciela  and  SERRANO BARQUIN, Rocío del Carmen. Female Entrepreneurship: An Opportunity for Solidarity Productive Organization in the Rural Context. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.3  Epub Dec 01, 2022. ISSN 2308-0132.

In rural contexts, entrepreneurship opportunities arise on numerous occasions associated with nature, such as forest resources and their usefulness to produce handicrafts. The objective of this article was to analyze the female enterprise Unión de Mujeres Artesanas y Silvícolas del Estado de México as a solidarity productive organization. To do this, the research used a qualitative approach of interpretive scope through categories that gave rise to in-depth interviews carried out with key actors internal and external to the organization. The results show that it is an undertaking originated by the need to contribute economically to the home of women, but that, once established as an artisanal productive organization, it has allowed the development of collective capacities, encouraging identity towards natural resources and their conservation. The activities of its members configure them as environmental agents that contribute to the sustainability of their community.

Keywords : solidarity productive organization; collective capabilities; ocoxal crafts; sustainability.
