MUNOZ-GONZALEZ, Yeisson. Public Policy and Quality of Life: Explorations around Informal Mining in Colombia. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.3  Epub Dec 01, 2022. ISSN 2308-0132.

The objective of this research is the analysis the quality of life around social settings, environmental conditions and citizen participation, of informal and illegal miners of the Municipality of Philadelphia, Caldas, to establish existing relationships with public politics that promote the improvement of living conditions and the sustainable development of the region, in the face of informality and illegality. Twelve mining leaders were interviewed to demonstrate, within the framework of human development theories and the United Nations' sustainable development goals, that those who are dedicate to gold extraction extraction have a low quality of life and minimal economic, and social development and labor. Thus, it is concluded that there is a need to formalize this economic activity in Colombia with a social investment backed by sustainable public and environmental policies that guarantee decent living conditions.
