The participation of adolescents in social networks is increasing among students from different educational centers in Ecuador. Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and WhatsApp are some examples of these types of sites that are gaining popularity among these ages every day. The irruption of technology continues to pose challenges to education, especially in the area related to the ways and styles in which today's digital natives communicate with each other and share tastes, interests and motivations in a mostly virtual space. This article aims to analyze the impact of social networks on communication among adolescents of the "Pedro Zambrano Barcia" Educational Unit in Portoviejo. For them, a descriptive survey design applied to 250 students of the mentioned institution with ages between 13 and 18 years was used. From the very particular perspective of the adolescent objects of study, the impacts of social networks on their social life and on education were positive, however, teachers must take this issue into account within their focus of attention in the face of training. of students at these ages, since it could be compromised in some cases by excessive immersion in them.
