The global healt emergency caused by COVID- 19 has raised alarms in society and in the scientific community. They ways of communicating scientific information are diverse. Actions have been taken to tell the reality of the disease, but challenges are looming that must be faced from now on. Starting from this premise and from UNESCO’s approaches to improve access to information and the use of technologies against the pandemic, this article analyzes the challenge of COVID- 19 for education, science, the government and citizens from the Cuban infocommunication scenario. The classic documentary analysis, the analytical- synthetic method and the case study are used. The approach to these issues shows the need to generate and take advantage of educational technologies, consolidate government spaces of transparency and accountability, educate the citizenry in the media and informationally, promote Open Science, encourage open innovation, review communication deficiencies scientific; as well as the eternal fight against fake news.
