Abstract

MENENDEZ VILLACRECES, Mónica; TRELLES RODRIGUEZ, Irene; BADIA VALDES, Ana Teresa  and  DONOSO, Fabio. Reflections on the management of risk communication regarding COVID-19. ARCIC [online]. 2020, vol.9, n.24, pp. 128-148.  Epub Jan 18, 2021. ISSN 2411-9970.

The severe global crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the urgent need to reevaluate conceptions and practices on risk management, and as part of it, on communication for this type of management. In this work, some theoretical considerations supported by conceptual axes that contribute to the understanding of the risk management category, its links with communication, the existing legal bases, the use of institutional and community capacities are exposed. Later, in a kind of diagnosis, the situation experienced in Ecuador in the period from March to May 2020 is described and finally, a section is presented that exposes factors, resulting from the triangulation of the theory and the results of the empirical diagnosis, which, in the opinion of the authors, should be taken into account in the communication of risk management.

Keywords : risk management; communication; crisis; institutional capacities; resilience.
