Abstract

VALDEZ ALVAREZ, Orlando; VASALLO PASTOR, Nancy  and  PENA CEDENO, Addis. Stage I of cervical cancer. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 1997, vol.23, n.2, pp. 91-96. ISSN 1561-3062.

An assessment of the medical care provided to 92 patients presenting with stage I cervical cancer was made from January, 1985 to June, 1996. A good percentage of early diagnosis of this type of neoplasm was proved in a very important group of women under 35 years of age at the moment of the diagnosis. Cytology, colposcopy, and the Schiller's test were found to be very useful for the study of invasive cancer. The surgical procedure performed complies with the ones recommended by the vast majority of the authors. The number of recurrences and deaths was found to be low.

Keywords : CERVIX NEOPLASMS [diagnosis]; CARCINOMA [diagnosis]; CERVIX NEOPLASMS [surgery]; CARCINOMA [surgery].
