Abstract

HIDALGO DE PAZ, Armando. Index or Relative Iliac Bicrestal Width as an indicator of risk during delivery. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 1997, vol.23, n.2, pp. 97-100. ISSN 1561-3062.

The index of relative iliac bicristal width was obtained in 120 pregnant women at the Gynecological Provincial Hospital of Cienfuegos in order to know the usefulness of this index as an indicator of risk factor during delivery. From the patients, 60 pregnant women had eutocic deliveries, and 60 dystocic deliveries. When comparing data, a significant predominance of women presenting with wide and median measurement of the pelvis was found. In general, these results coincide with the criteria established in Obstetrics suggesting that this index may be considered and used as a prognostic indicator for risk during delivery.

Keywords : PELVIMETRY; DYSTOCIA [etiology]; DELIVERY [classification]; PREGNANCY; RISK.
