A prospective, descriptive and cross-sectional study the behaviour of infant mortality in a period of 4 years at the health municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución and Playa, in Havana City, was carried out. The infant mortality rates due to genetic causes in children under 1 were analyzed. Both were similar in the 2 municipalities with a light predominance in the municipality of Playa (2.8 per 1 000 live births). Infant mortality rate from genetic cause had a trend to decrease in time in these municipalities. On studing infant mortality according to the genetic etiology the deaths produced by multiple factors were the most frequent, which coincides with the reference literature.
