A prospective, descriptive study of female patient admitted with gestation hemorrhagic complications in the second half of pregnancy to "Julio Alfonso Medina" teaching gynecobstetric hospital in Matanzas was conducted during 1995 and 1996. Of 6 398 deliveries, 35 showed gestation hemorrhagic complications with placenta previa and its variations being the predominant one with 20 cases accounting for 0.31 %, followed by 11 cases of retroplacental hematome for 0.17 %, 3 cases of marginal sinus rupture for 0.05 % and one case of uterine rupture for 0.01 %. Data processing was made by a MICROSTAT system using an IBM computer from Matanzas University; also a percentage method and a ratio test were used. The prevalence of cesarean with preterm products and low fetal weight without affecting Apgar score which was low, and fetal mortality were found. Cesarean was not a maternal death factor but it did cause high maternal morbidity.
