Abstract

HERNANDEZ CABRERA, Jesús et al. Positive serodiagnosis in pregnant women during 1997. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 1999, vol.25, n.2, pp. 118-123. ISSN 1561-3062.

This paper sets forth the results of a study jointly undertaken by the Teaching Gynecoobstetric Hospital of Matanzas and the Dermatology Department during 1997. This study included every pregnant patient who was diagnosed with positive serodiagnosis, treated and followed up until her delivery. Primary data were recorded in a register and then processed in a IBM computer from Matanzas University using the MICROSTAT system, the percentage method, the first X2 parametric test and the rationarithmetic mean test. Of 2 580 deliveries, 80 had positive serodiagnoses accounting for an incidence rate of 2,28 %. Of these 80 cases, 32 had syphilis for 0.89 % and 48 showed other causes of their positive serologic tests for 1.3 %. Both groups were compared to discuss the chosen varaibles of interest.
