Abstract
TORRIENTE HERNANDEZ, Beatriz; BERTY PEREZ, Abel; MARTINEZ CAMILO, Rodolfo V and VASALLO PASTOR, Nancy. Value of the abdominal ultrasound in the diagnosis of endometrial affections in middle aged women. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2000, vol.26, n.2, pp. 69-73. ISSN 1561-3062.
A descriptive study was conducted at the Climacteric Department of the Maternal Hospital of Guanabacoa, in l998, aimed at knowing the use of the ultrasound in the endometrial diseases confirmed by endometrial biopsy. The sample was composed of 150 middle aged patients. Endometrial thickness was determined by abdominal ultrasound. 60% of the adenomatous hyperplasias were related to the endometrial thickness of 7 mm or more. Menstrual disorders were observed as a chief symptom in 34,4% of the patients with cystic hyperplasia. It was concluded that the determination of the endometrial thickness by abdominal ultrasound may be used in the study of endometrial affections in middle aged patients.
