In order to identify those factors influencing on late fetal mortality, a prospective, cross-sectional research of the fetal deaths occurred at "Comandante Pinares" Hospital from January, 1998, to December 2000, was carried out. The study group was composed of patients that had late fetal death in this period, whereas the control group was made up of patients with delivery following fetal death. Both groups answered a questionnaire that incluided variables of the mother and fetus. The statitiscal analysis was made through the percent frequency, the mean, the standard deviation and the Z stadiographer, with a level of significance of p = 0.01. There was a very marked statistical relation with adolescence, the age group 30-34, housewives, smoking, the inadequate weight gain during pregnancy, and the characteristic and associated diseases during gestation.
