Abstract

A female patient that was admitted in "Abel Santamaría Cuadrado" Teaching Hospital of Pinar del Río on July 15, 2001, with 30 weeks of gestation and history of motor weakness of the right hemisphere, for which se had received psychiatric treatment 2 years ago, is presented. She had had some improvement and on being hospitalized the process had worsened. Electroencephalographic and imaging studies were conducted and it was found a great right tumoral lesion with sign of uncus and cingulum herniation, that was considered a glioma. During the study, pulmonary maturation of the fetus was performed. The result of the magnetic nuclear resonance was discussed by a team of obstetricians, neonatologists, neruosurgeons, internists and anesthesiologists. It was decided to perform surgery of the tumor and cesarean section at the same surgical time. The newborn infant of 34 weeks had a good Apgar's score and a weight of 2340 g. Both of them had a satisfactory evolution.
