Abstract

PINO GARCIA, Teresa; SABINA ITURRALDE, Algimiro  and  PEREZ DIAS, Grether. Misoprostol for cervical maturation, a therapeutic alternative in modern Obstetrics. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2005, vol.31, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.

The fetal maturation of the cervix uteri was performed with misoprostol at doses of 25 mcg every 6 hours up to a maximum of 4 doses in 104 pregnant women with more than 37 weeks of gestation and with poor cervical conditions for induction of labor and criterion of pregnancy interruption. They were all admitted at "Eusebio Hernández" ginecoobstetric teaching hospital from July 2001 to May 2002. There was 95.1 % of success in our study, a datum similar to the one reported by other authors that assert that the administration of misoprostol is the most efficient method for cervical maturation in these cases.

Keywords : Misoprostol; cervical maturation.
