Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The social image of family relationships during adolescence has as main character the conflict among parents and daughters, where in underlay a distance in the communication among them. OBJECTIVE: To assess the family training as a means to foster abilities of communication between family/adolescent daughter. METHOD: An educational intervention was carried out in the community from the consultation # 3 of the Santa Cruz del Norte municipality where sample included 15 family nucleus and the abilities of communication. The statistic differences of the categorical variables to measure the post-training change, were analyzed by McNemar and Chi2 tests for a 95% of CI, were considered as significant those corresponding with Z and X2 values higher than 1.96. RESULTS: Befoe intervention, there was predominance of families without a knowledge of topics related to adolescents (66.7 %), as well as of inappropriate facing styles (47.0 %) and abilities of a unacceptable communication (73.3 %). Once applied the training a significant increase of families with knowledge of these topics was achieved, as well as of appropriate converging of relatives (66.7 %) and of communication abilities (73.3 %). CONCLUSIONS: Training was very positive since it allows meeting in large extent the difficulties found in the first moment.
