Abstract

Tuberculosis is one of the most widely distributed infectious diseases in the world and is one of the leading causes of death in AIDS patients, especially in low-income countries. The extrapulmonary form of tuberculosis varies between 15 to 30% of all cases, of these, the pelvic form represents only 6 to 10%, with ovarian involvement even rarer. We describe the case of a patient from southwestern Colombia, who presents with two-week symptoms of behavioral disturbances and altered consciousness, a diagnosis of infection by human immunodeficiency virus was made, during her evolution extrapulmonary infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis with meningeal and ovarian involvement was documented.
