Abstract

GONZALEZ CARVAJAL, Yousy; REMIGIO MONTERO, Antonia; ZAMORA RODRIGUEZ, Zullyt  and  FONSECA LOPEZ, Gladys. Ozonoterapia: efectos genotóxicos en sangre periférica de ratón. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 1999, vol.18, n.1, pp. 37-39. ISSN 1561-3011.

The genotoxic activity of oleozon was studied by the micronucleus test in peripheral blood through the analysis and comparison of the frequencies of micronuclei in reticulocytes in mice of the Cenp:NMRI line of both sexes. This test is an indirect determination of the induction of chromosomal structural or numerical aberrations. Ozonized sunflower oil with index of peroxides between 617 and 680 and the controls sunflower oil and cyclophosphamide (40 mg/kg of body weight), a substance with clastogenic properties that provokes an increases in the chromosomal breakages were used in the treatment. Five consecutive intragastric doses were administered. No toxic effects were observed in the erythrocytic population studied. Negative results were obtained in the induction of clastogenecity (induction of chromosomal aberrations) on quantifying the amount of micronuclei present in reticulocytes for the peroxide index studied.
