Abstract
CANO GARCIA, Mérida; FIGUEREDO RODRIGUEZ, Pedro and MORAIS DELGADO, Manuel. Papel del reflejo bulbocavernoso en el diagnóstico de la disfunción sexual eréctil. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2001, vol.20, n.3, pp. 209-212. ISSN 1561-3011.
The bulbocavernous reflex is an electromyographic test that assists in diagnosing sexual erectile dysfunction by organic causes, specially those of neurologic origin since this reflex latency is of great help for determining the integrity of sacral spinal cord (S2-S4). This test should be applied to every diabetic patient with sexual erectile dysfunction and to patients with sacral segment lesions. Nervous and sensitive conduction velocity of the penis and its cortical somatosensory evoked potentials complete the results of the bulbocavernous test. The importance of this test as well as the way in which it is performed in medical practice were discussed
Keywords : ELECTROMYOGRAPHY [methods]; IMPOTENCE [diagnosis]; EVOKED POTENTIALS, SOMATOSENSORY; PENIS [innervation].
