Abstract

PRESMANES CABO, María Amelia; UPMANN PONCE DE LEON, Celia María; FERNANDEZ REGALADO, Raúl  and  LOPEZ YANEZ, Lourdes. Adaptación del microtest de densidad eritrocitaria y su estudio evolutivo en ratas jóvenes. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2001, vol.20, n.4, pp. 275-278. ISSN 1561-3011.

The erythrocyte density microtest is a technique that is being assessed for the diagnosis of perinatal hypoxia, a pathology with a high incidence in the neonatology services. This technique is used to measure the percentage of young nucleated red blood cells. As the rat blood coagulates rapidly, the original technique was modified. This technique was applied to conduct a serial study in young rats (from 1 to 14 days) and to have a control group to compare its values with those of hypoxic rats. In the results it was observed a decrease of the values with age, which should also occur in children after birth. Therefore, it is suggested to carry out a similar study in normal infants at term that will serve as a pattern of comparison with the cases of hypoxia
