Abstract

NAVARRO AGUIRRE, Lelys ; GONZALEZ GONZALEZ, Olga L; SANCHEZ ALVAREZ, Ma. de Lourdes  and  RODRIGUEZ GARCIA, Osmel. Stratification of leptospiras by municipality in Villa Clara province. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2004, vol.23, n.2, pp. 106-111. ISSN 1561-3011.

Seven hundred and eighty six paired sera from patients with clinical suspicion, with epidemiological evidence of leptospirosis or without it, were studied by microagglutination technique to identify the higher serological reactivity serogroups and stratify them by municipality. A positive rate of 52,3% was obtained, being ballum (11,8%) the predominant serogroup followed pomona (10,6%) and icterohaemorragiae (9,7%). The highest positive percentage was observed in the municipalities of Santo Domingo (30,2%), Ranchuelo (23,3%), Encrucijada (12,6%) and Quemado (11,4%). The distribution of serogroups by municipality showed a result similar to that of distribution of serogroups in general, with predominance of ballum in the three municipalities with the highest numbers of cases
