Abstract

PANTALEON BERNAL, Olga et al. Introduction of therapeutical control in follow-up of patients treated with oral anticoagulants. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2009, vol.28, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3011.

Patients under oral anticoagulants treatment are placed between possibility of bleeding and that one of a thromboembolism. OBJECTIVE: to introduce therapeutical control in follow-up of patients under oral anticoagulants, as part of functioning of a control unit of this therapeutic regimen. METHODS: a total of 205 ambulatory patients were followed. They came from external consultation room of National Institute of Angiology and Vascular Surgery with prescription of oral anticoagulants drugs. To perform therapeutical control we considered results of quality control of prothrombin time and each month determination ratio was estimated during a year, within established therapeutical rank. Therapeutical control was assessed according to education of patient under anticoagulant treatment through the delivery of a manual. We determined patient (prevalence) and determination ratio present within rank as well as that of time sustained by subject within its therapeutical rank. RESULTS: determination ratio within rank was above 65%. Group with anticoagulant manual had a prevalence of subjects within rank, and a greater ratio of time sustained by subject within the appropriate rank. CONCLUSIONS: it was possible to demonstrate a good therapeutical control of anticoagulant treatment and also to improve services offered in the consultation specialized in control.
