Abstract

VILCHES IZQUIERDO, Ernesto; RAMOS MARRERO, Lianne  and  OCHOA MONTES, Luis Alberto. Long-term treatment of ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction: an update. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2014, vol.33, n.3, pp. 322-333. ISSN 1561-3011.

Acute myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation has an extremely high mortality rate. The literature about the subject makes special emphasis on the circumstances surrounding the acute stage of the event, and not much importance is awarded to the subsequent long-term behavior, a period when a considerable number of deaths have been reported due to complications deriving from the infarction. In the present review a description is provided of the appropriate follow-up management of patients with ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction.

Keywords : acute myocardial infarction; risk factors; lifestyles, drug therapy.
