Abstract

URBINA LAZA, Omayda; SOLER CARDENAS, Silvio F  and  OTERO CEBALLOS, Marta. Identification of competences in the nursing professional at the Neonatology service. Educ Med Super [online]. 2005, vol.19, n.2, pp. 1-1. ISSN 0864-2141.

A research of technological development was made to identify the basic and specific competences that should characterize the nursing professional at the Neonatology service, a useful tool for the successful performance of her actions and interventions. Theoretical and empirical models were applied by the documental analysis, interviews and surveys to nursing professionals and experts working at the Neonatology service in Havana City. Information was subjected to an evaluative analysis with logical procedures that included the induction-deduction, the abstraction and the generalization. The quantitative data were processed by the SPSS statistical system. It was concluded with the identification of the basic and specific competences and of some factors that affected the adequate performance of this personnel at the Neonatology service.
