ABSTRACT

Introduction:

in the teaching-learning process the student is not an isolated person, his activity is developed through communication and exchange of information with his classmates, the teacher and the environment; conditions that favour collaborative learning.

Objective:

to describe the characteristics of the teaching-learning process based on collaborative learning.

Methods:

a search for information was carried out in the PubMed/MedLine, SciELO and Scopus databases, as well as in the ClinicalKeys services and the Google Scholar search engine. Original articles and systematic reviews written in the last five years, in Spanish or English, were selected.

Development:

the aspiration to comprehensively train the medical sciences student is inserted in the context of the transformations of the improvement of the educational system in Cuba, and the active teaching methods. The teaching-learning process of the subject of clinical pharmacology should be imbued with the active teaching method. The proposal made for the solution of the social problem identified, starts from considering the causes that generate it, as well as the social consequences of the same, an important role has the social responsibility of the researcher.

Conclusions:

pedagogical alternatives are needed to achieve a change in the conduction of the teaching-learning process. In collaborative learning, cognitive, affective, relational and motivational processes are put into action. This implies taking advantage of autonomous work, developing the cognitive independence and professional competences of teachers and creativity, with the aim of achieving improvement in the methods and forms of the process under analysis.
