ABSTRACT In this paper, image denoising methods, based only on the interscale and intrascale dependencies between wavelet coefficients, are analyzed. In addition, a novel thresholding scheme for spatially adaptive wavelet denoising is presented. The scheme incorporates information from the neighboring coefficients. Experimental results show that the proposed method is consistently superior to others state-of-the-art methods based on intrascale dependencies, and even slightly better than BiShrink which uses the inter-scale correlation.
