The Revista Cubana de Alimentación y Nutrición (Cuban Journal of Food and Nutrition) appeared for the first time in 1987 as a tool for nutritionists and other professionals of health sciences linked with food and nutritional problems, as well as of other specialists developing its job in the field of human food and nutrition. The antecedents of the circulation of this journal are revealed, and the goals fulfilled during the 16 years of existence as a source of information and as a main mean for spreading the research results achieved in this discipline in Cuba are founded. An analytic review, where all the references of the papers, including the names of the authors and the topics dealt with, is presented. This bibliographic inventory allows to have in only one body all the history of this journal, and it is a modest tribute to remember and recognize its main managing director, John Gay Rodríguez, M.D.
