The importance of considering the effects of harmonic distortion on electrical installations becomes more relevant because of the proliferation of so-called "non-linear" loads. This phenomenon contaminates the electrical network of an installation and can affect the operation of the devices connected to it when it exceeds certain limits. Therefore, the objectives sought in the article are to perform a study in the Sonangol - Namibe Industrial System components of harmonics that influence the same, propose the method (s) and procedures of elimination as are the passive filters used to reduce the distortions originated, From the electrical survey of the installation. A general review is also presented on the indicators related to harmonics and generators in electrical networks, using reference documents such as: IEEE 519-1992 recommendations, IEC-61000, NRS 048-2 and EN 50160.
