Resumen

SANCHEZ- JACAS, Daniel; IGLESIAS- FERNANDEZ, Carlos  y  CALZADA- LIENS, Alfredo. Recovery of the fraction - 20 Mesh (0.84 mm) in rejection of the pulp preparation plant Company S.A. Moaniquel Pedro Sotto Alba. RTQ [online]. 2012, vol.32, n.3, pp. 225-237. ISSN 2224-6185.

This work shows the results reached in the environmental impact reduction caused by the technological stream called Slurry Preparation Plant Reject that is obtained from the limonitic mineral extracted from the lateritic orebody in Moa, Holguin, Cuba, after the installation of the Reject Circuit for the treatment of that stream. With the installation of this Reject Circuit, for which its Environmental License was requested and approved, the Recovery Efficiency of useful ore particles of -20 mesh (0.84 mm) increases from a value of 85.27 % obtained in the period before the circuit installation to values of 97.38% obtained after the circuit installation. The Reject Circuit installation eliminated completely the reject stream spillage to Cabañas River and allowed also to reuse the clean reject material in the mining roads construction, with which a great part of that extracted from the environment is returned to it, thus reducing practically to cero the environmental impact caused prior to its installation.

Palabras clave : reject circuit; environmental impact; useful ore; environmental license.
