SANCHEZ ARCE, Luís Rafael; LARA DIAZ, Lidia Mercedes  y  CARBALLOSA GONZALEZ, Ania. Competencies and skills to evaluate professional development of the mastery in education students. Conrado [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.63, pp. 85-93.  Epub 04-Jun-2018. ISSN 1990-8644.

The Mastery in Education Program is developed by the Higher Education Didactics and Direction Centre in the University of Cienfuegos, Cuba. Its aim is to graduate Masters in Education with ethics and responsibility within the framework of autonomy and commitment in regard to their educative function’s quality. This aim is achieved as the program contributes to their professional development as educators. The purpose of this paper is to present a group of competences and abilities which have been validated by experts to evaluate the professional development of the students in this Mastery Program. Observation, documents review, survey, interview, Delphi and other mathematical techniques are the methods used to get the results in this research. The competences were identified as academic activity, investigation, management of education process, methodological activity and reflection about practice. Within these competences there are twenty-one abilities that integrate them. Validation results show that the professional competences proposed reached acceptance values (Adequate, Very Adequate, Adequate Enough) higher than 88 % in each evaluation criteria (Relevancy, Viability, Feasibility). On the other hand, there is a prevalence of these evaluation categories in the analysis of the abilities that form these competences. Through this investigation process, it was confirmed that the determined indicators to evaluate the professional development of the Mastery Program students are the professional competences.
