Resumen
HIDALGO VALVERDE, Eric J.. The Plastercast and Lithographs Restoration Collections of the Fine Arts School in the University of Costa Rica. UH [online]. 2023, n.297 Epub 10-Jun-2023. ISSN 0253-9276.
The Fine Arts School (FAS) of the University of Costa Rica (1940) has two old collections, one of plaster copies and another of lithographed drawings from France and which were acquired by the Costa Rican government in 1897 for the creation of the National Academy of Fine Arts. This work presents the results of the process of conservation and restoration of both collections that was carried out in the FAS with the collaboration of the Museum Juan Miguel Dihigo of the University of Havana and the technical advice of the restoration department of the National Museum of Fine Arts of the same city. The catalog includes several articles on the historical background of the School and the different processes developed over seven years of work. Costa Rica does not have a restoration academy, so it was necessary to prepare the workshops and train the team of teachers and students who restored the collections with the collaboration of a Cuban specialist and previous experience of two teachers of the FAS.
