QUINTANA ALVAREZ, José Hilario; VEGA RODRIGUEZ, Orlenis; ROSETE SUAREZ, Alejandro y ALVAREZ LAZARO, Niurys. Development of the ability to solve combinatorial problems with demonstration exercises. Teacher experiences. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2023, vol.42, n.2 Epub 20-Mayo-2023. ISSN 0257-4314.
The development of the ability to solve combinatorial problems in discrete mathematics of the Informatics Sciences Engineering (ICI) career is not complete if the student is not able to carry out the demonstration of combinatorial propositions. On the other hand, mastery of demonstration techniques is an essential tool for learning Computer Science and developing professional skills. However, both solving combinatorial problems and carrying out proofs constitute challenging contents for significant numbers of students. The first part of this communication describes some theoretical background that explains the causes of such difficulty. Immediately afterwards, a set of budgets is offered that were applied in the scientific-methodological work of the group of Discrete Mathematics teachers with the aim of taking advantage of the advantages offered by working with mathematical demonstrations in the development of the ability to solve combinatorial problems. Finally, the results of a test are offered to evaluate the levels of satisfaction of teachers regarding the application of the proposal made in this communication.
