This study is imed at characterizing the motivational hierarchy of engineering and architecture students at the Technological University of Havana (Cujae), in order to better understand how the professional training process is carried out and coordinate the efforts of educators and students to achieve the comprehensive development of these professionals. The Ten Wishes Technique was used with a group of 787 randomly selected students that attend the Daily Course, representative of the entire population of students from first year in 2021. The content of the wish, the frequency of appearance and the hierarchy order were taken into account. The results showed a hierarchy concerning medium and long-term professional motives followed by personal fulfillment, personal and familiar health; happiness, personal and familiar life quality; communication; family affection and union; recreation; material things, specially money; and, in minor degree , social motives. However, cognitive motivations, self-knowledge, self-estimation, self-development, autonomy and self-determination were not placed in any hierarchical position. Therefore, a need for educative orientation on these aspects to develop the training process at this university is identified. It is also required to continue studying this topic by using other research techniques and observing students´ behavior, as well as increase sample with students from other academic years and universities.
