VIERA GONZALEZ, Endris Yoel; BARCIA SARDINAS, Sinaí  y  GOMEZ DIAZ, Dianelly. Climate services for the agricultural sector from the Global Framework for Climate Services approach. Rev. Cubana Met. [online]. 2023, vol.29, n.2  Epub 01-Jun-2023. ISSN 2664-0880.

Climate variability and climate change are today a global problem that affects everyone, but in different ways. The increase in the average temperature of the sea, the decrease in rainfall, the increase in extreme meteorological and climatic phenomena, among others, make this problem a challenge for human existence. Globally, these variations are challenging economic activities in numerous climate-sensitive sectors. In the agricultural sector, the weather is both a resource and a threat. Climate change and climate variability are the main causes of stress in terms of food production and availability. In Cuba, climatic conditions are variable and make agriculture highly sensitive. That is why the incorporation of science is essential, with climate services being an alternative to mitigate such effects with new approaches. This research has as general objective: To propose climate services for the agricultural sector of the province of Cienfuegos from the Global Framework for Climate Services approach. For this, a survey was applied to entities of the agricultural sector of the territory to know the state of knowledge and the demand for climate services; A group of climate services was proposed as a "measure made suit" for the client to facilitate decision-making, connect the needs of users with climate service providers and improve the capacity of actors to design effective adaptation strategies in the face of variability and climate change.

Palabras clave : Climate Services; climate change; agricultural sector.
