This article analyzes the current situation and prospects of Ecuadorian coffee growing in the face of new international market scenarios. The causes and effects of the central problem, the low national production are shown and it proposes to reorient the coffee policy of this important sector of the economy, in attention to the new trends of consumption, articulating cooperation actions among the actors of the agro-industrial coffee chain and the University Network for Coffee Research and Development (REDUCAFE). It also suggests promoting a model of integral management for the coffee production units according to the particularities of each coffee producing area.
