The preparation of teachers is a social necessity. In order to have a permanent impact, this work must overcome traditional styles and be projected towards an activity based on the solid scientific foundations provided by pedagogical sciences. In particular, the attention to the lack of motivation of cadets for military careers is a problem, an area in which teachers must play an essential role in the training process. In this sense, the article aims at: revealing the theoretical-methodological referents that sustain the preparation of the teachers of the Military Academy of the Army of the Republic of Angola to educate the professional motivation of the cadets for military careers and the results of its current state in this institution. With a scope of explanatory nature and quantitative-qualitative approach, the regularities around the referents and the particularities of the reality are specified, essential aspects in the projection of any interventive action in order to achieve that the education of the professional motivation becomes a process favoring the change in the conceptions, attitudes and practices of the educational community.
