ALVAREZ DIAZ, Ezzard Omar et al. Greenhouse prototype in the high Andean zones of Peru for the production of germinated grains as a dietary supplement in the feeding of South American camelids. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.4, pp. 708-717. Epub 30-Ago-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.
The research was carried out at the El Mantaro branch of the Instituto Veterinario de Investigaciones Tropicales y de Altura of the Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, located in the El Mantaro district, province of Jauja, Junin region, at an altitude of 3320 masl. A greenhouse prototype was designed and implemented for the production of germinated grasses. Barley seeds (without additives) were selected for the production of hydroponic green fodder because of their low cost, high nutrient supply, and rapid adaptation up to 3320 masl. The experiment was carried out with 6 alpacas, 3 fed with the hydroponic green forage and the other three alpacas with natural grasses of the area (Sample B). The results indicate that the camelids of the B sample increased their weight and fiber length better than those of the A sample. The experiment was also carried out with guinea pigs (guinea pigs), a sample of 24 guinea pigs was taken forming 4 groups of six, which were fed with natural grasses, barley and forage. The guinea pigs fed with forage and barley grain increased their weight, compared to the guinea pigs fed with natural grass and barley forage.
