Resumo

Objective:

This paper aims at supporting the principle of unity of guidance referents, and its connection to comprehensiveness of planning, pedagogical approach, assessing systematization pertinence of supervision in educational institutions.

Methods:

Interviewing, surveying, observation and modeling were used to collect data; the structural, functional method to construct the proposal and experts’ assessment to evaluate the proposal feasibility.

Results:

The principle explains the theoretical connections of the supervision management process. It satisfies methodological functions by setting definite issues to be considered in devising, conducting and evaluating educational supervision as singular pedagogical process.

Conclusions:

The rationale of this principle is significant for devising educational supervision as a practical process leading to permanent improvement.
