DE LEON NAZARENO, Dania Onora. Educational gap in technology and its influence on digital transformation in Ecuador. Serie Científica [online]. 2024, vol.17, n.11, pp. 163-186. Epub 01-Nov-2024. ISSN 2306-2495.
The research analyzed the educational gap in Ecuador, focusing on the lack of knowledge and technological skills that negatively impact the country's digital transformation process. The main objective was to identify how this deficiency affects the implementation of digital technologies and to propose solutions to overcome it. The methodology used was qualitative, based on observation and documentary analysis, which allowed for an understanding of the current situation regarding technological training. The results revealed a widespread lack of digital skills among citizens, limiting their ability to effectively use technological tools. Significant barriers were identified, such as limited access to technology, the digital divide between urban and rural areas, and cultural resistance to adopting new technologies. Furthermore, it was highlighted that this lack of training not only hinders progress in digital transformation but also restricts job opportunities in sectors that demand digital skills. In conclusion, there is an urgent need to invest in education and technological training in Ecuador, suggesting that the government and educational institutions collaborate to design programs that train students and professionals in essential digital competencies. These efforts are fundamental to promoting the socioeconomic development of the country and ensuring that Ecuador does not fall behind in the digital age.
