LACERDA GALLARDO, Ángel J. Tratamiento quirúrgico en las hemorragias intracerebrales espontáneas. Estudio de 7 pacientes. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2001, vol.40, n.4, pp. 251-255. ISSN 1561-2945.
An observational descriptive study was conducted in 7 patients who had spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhages and underwent surgery in our Service from January to December, 1999. The males were the most affected (71.42 %), whereas arterial hypertension was the commonest risk factor (71.42 %). All the patients had hemorrhages over 25 cm3. Computed axial tomography and carotid angiography were the diagnostic tests performed during the first 24 hours after receiving the patients in our emergency services. Recombinant streptokinase was used twice during surgery to attain the total lysis of the clot. The intracranial pressure was continously monitored in one case. There were not deaths in the reported cases. 42.85 % had some degree of disability, whereas 28.57 % had disability without needing help and 28.57 % reincorporated themselves to their habitual activities.
