Abstract

JIMENEZ CARRAZANA, Agustín  and  LEYVA MOREIRA, Rolando. Tratamiento quirúrgico de la pancreatitis crónica: ¿Resección o derivación?. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2001, vol.40, n.4, pp. 272-275. ISSN 1561-2945.

The surgical treatment of chronic pancreatitis is controversial at present. The experience obtained with 9 patients is presented. 4 of them underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy as a definitive procedure, whereas the other 5 underwent a side-to-side pancreatojejunostomy at "Joaquin C. Duany" Hospital, in Santiago de Cuba, and at "Dr. Carlos J. Finlay" Hospital, in Havanan City, from 1990 to 2000. Some aspects connected with the indications, morbidity and mortality and the medium-term results are commented. The results were good in 88.9 % of the cases.

Keywords : PANCREATITIS [surgery]; PANCREATITIS [mortality]; PANCREATITIS [epidemiology]; PANCREATICODUODENECTOMY; SURGICAL PROCEDURES; ENDOSCOPIC.
