Abstract
GONZALEZ GONZALEZ, José Luis; MENENDEZ NUNEZ, Joaquín; COPO JORGE, José Antonio and ABELA LAZO, Alba. Advanced pseudomyxoma peritonei caused by appendiceal mucinous adenocarcinoma. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2014, vol.53, n.1, pp. 69-75. ISSN 0034-7493.
Pseudomyxoma peritonei, a disease of recurrent progression with variable malignant potential, is characterized by pressing gelatinous ascytis and frequently by generalized peritoneal invasion. During many years, it was considered as untreatable and incurable disease; however, in the last few decades, very specialized centers have focused on the radical and multimodal treatment of this disease with a view to curing it. Here is the case of a 43 years-old patient with advanced appendicealpseudomyxoma that recovered well after an aggressive treatment.
Keywords : pseudomyxoma; peritoneal carcinosis; peritonectomy.
