Abstract

SANCHEZ PORTELA, Carlos Antonio. Traumatic Amputation of Lower Limbs. Rev Cubana Cir [online]. 2019, vol.58, n.2  Epub June 01, 2019. ISSN 1561-2945.

Complete traumatic amputation is defined as the total separation of a limb segment from the rest of the body. The severed segment can sometimes be reconnected, provided that both parts of the limb have been correctly treated and certain conditions are met. Two cases of traumatic amputation of both lower limbs are presented: the first, a female patient of 49 years of age, due to an accident at work; and the second, a male patient of 39 years, victim of a railroad accident. The symptoms presented by both patients, their surgical treatment and evolution are exposed.

Keywords : complete amputation; traumatism; lower limbs.
