We made an updated review on surgical pathology of major salivary glands and to present results pobtained for 7 years of experience, from January 1990 to December 1996 in 79 patients presentig with this pathology in "Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía" Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital of Cienfuegos province. Different inflammatory, lithiasic and tumoral processes of salivary glands as well as therapeutics used were analyzed. Mean age was 50.7 years with a predominance of female sex; commonest pathology was tumoral type including adenomas (52 %), followed by relate injuries (29.1 %), and carcinomas (10.2 %). Surgery alone or combined with others procedures were main cornerstones of treatment.
