Abstract

Over the last years, the isolator technology has experienced a significant boost mainly due to the development of the manufacturing companies. The many technical solutions attained in the ventilation, sterilization and transfer systems, among other things, have made it possible to apply this technique in the drug industry with a significant rise in the quality of air within he working area and an efficient restriction in the handling of toxic substances. The present paper lists the general features of this technology, applications in this industry and main advantages and disadvantages.
