Levodropropizine is a synthetic substance, acting at the peripheral level and which has proved to have an efficient antitussive action. An analytic method was developed and validated by high pressure liquid chromatography to quantify levodropropizine in oral drops at 6 %. The following validation parameters were analyzed: lineality, specificity, precision, accuracy and range, according to what is established by the USP 23 for this assay category. The method developed proved to be lineal, specific, accurate and exact in the studied concentration range; therefore, its use is considered as accessible for the quantification of levodropropizine in the quality control and in the stability study of the oral drops.
