Physical and organizational structuring issues are essential elements to evaluate the assistance quality of in-hospital pharmaceutical service. With the objective of analyzing the operation of these units, 95.5 % of general and clinical surgical hospitals in Cuba were visited in the period covering October 2004 to June 2005. Some results related to the physical and organizational structuring of these services were presented in this paper and also quality indicators dealing with the number of pharmacists working in these units were estimated.
