VAZQUEZ VIGOA, Alfredo et al. Hipertensión paroxística y síncope miccional como forma de presentación de paraganglioma vesical. Rev cubana med [online]. 1997, vol.36, n.3, pp.202-206. ISSN 0034-7523.
The case of a 42-year old black male patient who was admitted to our hospital is reported. The patient presented with a syncopal picture related to the micturition effort three months before admission. The clinical status of the patient was characterized by headache, palpitations, anxiety, presyncopal state and ocassional true syncope. During the episodes, fluctuations of arterial pressure were detected which included hypertensive paroxyms, and ocassional hypotension. Plasma and urinary catecolamines were found to be high. Imaging studies (US and CAT) proved the presence of a tumor in the bladder wall. After surgical resection all clinical manifestations dissapeared. The histological study was in accordance with the diagnosis of paranglioma of the bladder wall.
