Abstract

RODRIGUEZ ACOSTA, Carmen  and  MARTINEZ PEREZ, Jorge Luis. Implicación clínica del aislamiento de Branhamella catarrhalis en muestras respiratorias. Rev cubana med [online]. 2002, vol.41, n.5, pp. 261-264. ISSN 1561-302X.

The isolation of Branhamella catarrhalis in respiratory samples from symptomatic patients, the diagnostic tools used and the clinical picture predominating during its isolation were described. It was mostly detected in patients with inflammatory neumopathies, chronic bronchitis and maxillary sinusitis. It was proved that 100 % of the characterized strains were resistant to tested beta-lactams. Its search and identification in the microbiology laboratories, where samples of the respiratory system are processed, was recommended.

Keywords : MORAXELLA (BRANHMELAL) CATARRHALIS [isolation & purification]; RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION; DIAGNOSIS, CLINICAL.
