Abstract

ESPINOSA RIVERA, Fidel et al. Bacterial resistance of isolated strains at "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Hospital. Rev cubana med [online]. 2008, vol.47, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-302X.

The percentage of resistance of the isolated strains from patients admitted in the hospital in general and in the ICU, in particular, increased during 2006 on comparing them with the results obtained in 2002. In 2006, it was observed a predominance of the isolation of Gram-negative bacteria and, particularly, of non-fermentating bacilli, such as Acinetobacter sp and Pseudomonas sp in the hospital in general and in the ICU, with almost a generalized growth of the resistance patterns of the main isolated microorganisms. The Gram-positive are represented by staphilococcus as negative coagulase and S. aureus, with an evident resistance to oxacillin, but 100 % sensitive to vancomicine. The most suggesting resistance values for 2006 are: E.coli resistant to ciprofloxacin (71 % for the hospital and 85.71 for the ICU, S. aureus (68 y 76 %) to oxacillin, Acinetobacter to ceftriaxone (88.24 y 96.20) and to meropenem (55 y 62 %).

Keywords : Antibiotic; bacterial strain; resistance; multiresistance.
