In the context of infectious entities affecting the mother and the child, an analysis is made of the different aspects that relate breast feeding to infection. The prevention of diseases, the transmission of chronic maternal infections, as well as the repercussion of the acute infectious pictures of the mother and the child on the maintenance of breast feeding are approached here. Recommendations on the safest antibiotics are made.
